Most couples that got engaged prior to early spring 2020 had no idea how much life would change for them.  Not only were they planning the rest of their lives together, but they’ve also had to make many lifestyle changes in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, making wedding planning that much more challenging.  Joel and Amber took that challenge on with such admirable grace and positivity, no matter what came their way.

The happy couple initially planned a small and intimate ceremony at a local venue in Columbia, Missouri, with family and close friends.  But when the pandemic hit full force, they were faced with some important decisions.  After considering the concerns of friends and family, they ultimately chose to have a quaint backyard wedding with only their family and it was stunning.

We started the day off at the Tiger Hotel in downtown Columbia.  With her hair and makeup immaculately done, Amber slipped into the most beautiful Watters Seaton wedding dress.   Then, we walked to the Neff Hall archway on the Mizzou campus for the first look.  When we arrived, Joel was waiting anxiously to see his beautiful bride for the first time.  It was a sweet and intimate moment.  We then walked onto the Francis Quadrangle, where Joel proposed to Amber, to capture a few romantic shots of the couple before heading to the family farm for the ceremony.

The farm was decorated with a gorgeous wedding arch made by the Mizzou students at Tiger Garden, which provided a charmingly delicate backdrop for the ceremony.  With Amber’s sister officiating the ceremony and their adorable little dog front and center for the whole event, the two were united.  As Mr. and Mrs., Joel and Amber spent the rest of the evening eating, laughing, and enjoying the company of their family.  I’m so honored to have been asked to photograph such a beautiful day with the sweetest couple ever.  Here are some of my favorite moments of their special day.
